Gun rights + gun control = ???

A different way of thinking about gun violence

The “gun rights” group believes that everyone has a right to bear arms.

The “gun control” group believes that no one has a right to bear arms.

If this is going to work, then the “gun rights” group must cede ground, that certain people do not have the right to bear arms.

And the ”gun control” group must cede ground, that certain people do have the right to bear arms.

Therefore, those who do not have the right to bear arms are the mentally ill and felons who are suicidal and homicidal.

Those who have the right to bear arms are private responsible citizens against a tyrannical government.

Therefore, a psychological test to identify homicidal and suicidal tendencies in the gun applicant must be instantiated, to weed out the mentally ill and felons.

Those who fail such a test would not be allowed to buy guns. Those who pass such a test would be allowed to buy guns.

Such a test exists. The Sheehan Suicidality Tracking Scale, and the Sheehan Homicidality Tracking Scale, exist separately, and a hybrid form exists as well.

Once we begin to see the possibilities of psychological tests, the usefulness of this research becomes clear.
