How a Psychological Test Would Screen Gun Buyers
A Test for Homicidal and Suicidal People Actually Does Exist
A psychological test to screen gun applicants for homicidal and suicidal tendencies exists: the Sheehan Homicidality Tracking Scale (S-HTS) and the Suicidality Tracking Scale (S-STS). A hybrid form of the two also exists. Administered anywhere guns are bought and sold—dealerships, gun shows, private sellers, online retail—the buyer takes the test. If that person passes, the seller gets the green light to sell without limitation. However, if the buyer fails, the seller is notified not to sell anything to this person, not even a single bullet. Then, the local police precinct is quickly dispatched to detain this person of interest.
